Post-release, “DAIRY COUNTRY - 2010”

The festival “Dairy country – 2010” took place in the pavilions of All-Russia Exhibition Center on September 11. The festival was organized by the National Dairy Producers Union (SOUZMOLOKO) and the Association of Retail Companies (AKORT), actively supported by the Federal Government and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. This festival is a first step of a long-term program on milk and dairy products consumption promotion in Russia.

Dairy producers from over 40 regions of Russia as well as Belorussian SOUZMOLOKO members have participated in the event.

The festival “Dairy country – 2010” was opened by the speech of chief sanitary officer of Russia Gennadiy Onischenko. “As for the children present here, I should say that it is milk that should make about 40 to 60 percent of your daily food intake, not some beer or chips or other foreign junk foods”, - Gennadiy Onischenko said.

The director of the Department of Food Processing industry and agricultural foods market regulation of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia Kirill Kolonchin, chairman of consumer market development committee of Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Alexander Borisov, Deputy of Moscow State Duma Ivan Novitskiy, deputy head of the Bureau of organization and coordination of foodstuffs trade of the Department of consumer market and services of Moscow Yuri Yakimov, deputy Minister of agriculture and foodstuffs of the Government of Moscow region V. Malenkih, director of the department of agroindustrial complex of Kostroma region Sergei Melnik, Chairman of the Board of SOUZMOLOKO Andrei Danilenko, AKORT executive director Ilya Belonovskiy, general director of National pig producers Union Yuri Kovalev, chairman of the Board of “SOUZROSSAHAR” Alexey Bodin, executive director of Russian Agrarian Movement Yuri Myagkov, executive director of the Agricultural Producers Association of Lipetsk Region Mikael Nanushyan, the director state bodies and non-profit organizations relations of OJSC “Wimm-Bill-Dann” Svetlana Mentyukova, sales and marketing director of “Hochland Russland” ltd Alexey Prokhorov, president of GC “Dominant” Pavel Demidov, director of market development department of DeLaval company Bu Waiffeldt, chairman of the board of GC “Alantal” A. Nikitin and others have participated in the event.

The guests of the festival could watch a real dairy family, i.e. the cows and calves in the field, to get to know all ins and outs of modern milking technology and eat free samples of various milk and dairy products of Russian and Byelorussian producers. Moreover, the visitors were entertained in many events and presentations involving milk and dairy products: everyone could try to milk a cow, to participate in contests and quizzes and have fun on dairy carousels.

The festival was finished by an evening performance of Janna Friske. The famous Russian singer likes to eat dairy products daily, and she also uses milk for personal care.

According to All-Russia Exhibition Center the festival “Dairy country – 2010” was attended by over 30 000 people. The participants of the festival has brought over 7000 kilograms of tasty milk, cheeses and other dairy products that are so good for human health.
